Data Import

The data import screens allow you to import information into Super-Tracker, and create templates for users to import data into the application. Super-Tracker contains templates for user contact imports, these can be accessed from the Contacts control panel.

Import Data

Data is imported from comma, tab, space or semi colon delimited text files.

Click on the link to open the data import screen.

Enter the class that you want to import data into, or use the search Icon to search for the class.

Select the file to import the data from

Enter the line number to start importing data from

Choose the type of field delimiter used in the import file from the pick list

Select the overwrite check box if required

In the field details table:

Enter the column number that the data is contained in in the import file

Enter the field name that the data will be stored in in Super-Tracker

Check the box if the field is to be unique (will compare against records already in Super-Tracker)

Enter the default value for the field

Repeat for all fields to be imported.

To create more rows in the table click the refresh button

Click the import now button to import your data

Note: the same import field can be used for multiple entries into Super-Tracker, this is the case in some of the existing imports where the phone number field is used in the contact work phone and in the company phone field.

The data import results screen will open when the import procedure has finished, and display import information and a report on any errors that may have occurred.
Any records that have not imported will be displayed in the error report and can be corrected in your text file and re-imported.

Data Import Templates

Click on the link to open the data import template screen. The procedure is the same as for a standard data import, but with additional fields for storing the template information.

Name: Name of the template

Description: Description of the template

Instructions: instructions for using the template

All templates created will be available in the user import screens pick list. The user import screen is available from the contacts control panel screen
