How do I get to my ST Server Application?

Windows

When the install is complete the server will start as a service and you will be taken to the following url:

http://localhost:8080/

To access the application once the server is running:

Go to Start > Programs > ST Server > Start Server

Or open your preferred browser and type http://localhost:8080/ or http://127.0.0.1:8080 in the address bar

To access the application from a client machine type in the IP address of the server machine and add port 8080, eg

http://192.168.0.25:8080

All other Systems

Open your preferred browser and type http://localhost:8080/ or http://127.0.0.1:8080 in the address bar

To access the application from a client machine type in the IP address of the server machine and add port 8080, eg http://192.168.0.25:8080

ST Server

Windows

How do I log in?

When the home page is shown, click the login tab located at the top-right hand corner of the screen.

Enter your username and password and click the [OK] Button

If this is the first time the application has been accessed the default login is:

User: user

Password: password


You will now be logged in and taken to the Control Panel

Do I always have to use the user login?

Once you have logged in you can change the user details to your own, and change the Login ID and password, alternatively you can keep the user ID for administration purposes and create a new user for your general use. We recommend that you change the user password as soon as you log in for security.

To change the user login:

  1. Click the My Setup link in the Control Panel side navigation bar
  2. The User Summary Screen will open
  3. Click the [Edit] Button
  4. Change the details in the User Data Entry Screen
  5. Change the Login ID and Password
  6. Make sure that Owner is selected in the Access Level picklist as you will not be able to access the Administration tools to create new users if you change this and log out.

How do I create a new user?

New users are created from the "Admin Control Panel". Only users with an access level of Owner can create new users.

  1. Click the Admin Control Panel tab on the top navigation bar of the Control Panel
  2. Click the Create New User Link under the Users & Logins Heading
  3. Enter the users details in the fields on the User Data Entry Screen
  4. Enter a Login ID and Password
  5. Select an access level from the Access Level picklist
  6. Click the [OK] Button to save the new user

How do I set up my company details?

When you first access the application it is important to enter your full company details. Your company name will already be entered from the information in your license key. Do not change your company name as it will affect your database access.

  1. Log in to the application, and go the "Admin Control Panel"
  2. Click the Settings link to open the Settings Screen
  3. Enter your company details into the fields in the Your Company Section
  4. Use the 'Edit More Company Details' link to open the data entry screen for your company and add more information.

What other database settings do I need to set?

When you first log in we recommend that you set your company details, currency and database name. For more information on the options available in the settings screen see the Administration section of the ST Help

  1. Log in to the application, and go the "Admin Control Panel"
  2. Click the Settings link to open the "Settings" Screen
  3. Under the "Details" Tab Select the type of Currency you use from the Currency Pick List
  4. Click the "Database" Tab
  5. Enter the name of your database into the Title field
  6. Click the [OK] Button to save your settings

How do I set up data security?

Module Level Security is used for setting access levels of users, in terms of their ability to manipulate data. Module security can be set from the "Modules" tab of the "Settings" screen, within the "Admin Control Panel". Click Edit for the module you wish to set security settings for.

Can I delete Users?

Users can only be deleted if they have no records related to them. If a User has related records then they can be made inactive in the User Data Entry Screen to disable their login.

  1. Click the "Admin Control Panel" Tab in the top navigation bar
  2. Click the "Manage Users" Link under the Users & Logins Section
  3. Click the "View" Link for the user in the Users Report
  4. Click the "Edit" Button on the User Summary Screen
  5. Click the [Delete] Button to delete the User. If the selected contact is associated records you will get a warning message and will not be able to delete the user
  6. In this case check the Inactive checkbox to remove the users' access to the system
  7. Click the [OK] Button

How do I back up my data?

Database backups can be scheduled or done whenever required. Your database data can also be restored from a previous backup.

Backup files are stored in the backups directory in the STServer installation folder

How do I restore my data from a backup?

Restore Data

You will need to restart the server service to ensure that the restored data is shown.

Your data will be restored from the last backup file. A backup of the current data at the time you restored will also be created.
